FAQ’s

Can anyone become a member?

The Corner Studio is open to anyone 18+

The studio is for independent work, and has very little guidance. Think of it as your own rented studio. There is 24 hr access 6 days a week ( closed on Mondays).

If you are a new potter and need guidance, this might not be the place just yet for you, although there is some orientation and ongoing support, it isn’t a class or teaching style space day to day. Members who come to work will work independently on their own projects and will use their time for themselves unless otherwise arranged to collaborate. We suggest a class first with any local potters to learn basic skills and how a studio runs before joining. Once a foundational class is under your belt, please check back in for a membership!

How do I pay for my membership?

Payments will be made monthly and through Becky with some options. Post dated cheques are preferred or credit card recurring payments can be arranged easily for a $5 transaction fee per month. We also now accept recurring e-transfers.

How do I ensure I have space at a wheel and table?

In order to maintain a certain level of exclusivity, we have a maximum number of members. This is to ensure there is enough room for everyone. We do not oversell memberships, and there is usually a wait list.

Are there classes or workshops?

We do offer classes and occasionally workshops!

Is the space secure?

The studio has secure key entry, a locked/gated parking lot, and video surveillance.

We do not offer access to the public unless its a special event like an open house or show/sale.

Why is the studio closed on Mondays?

The studio is closed Mondays for maintenance, cleaning and upgrades, and possibly class or workshop dates.

How do I purchase materials?

Speak to Becky. There are some limitations.

Can I bring my family or friends?

You can bring a friend and or family to have a short tour periodically, but not for making. If you have visitors, they need to be escorted in and out by you. Please be kind and keep your fellow members in mind when having visitors, many potters like to have a rhythm and work efficiently in the studio and visitors can interrupt this creative time.

Is The Corner Studio a Co-operative?

No, the Corner Studio is owned and operated by Becky and her Husband Rob De Leo. All rules and policies have been thoughtfully created for the studio by Becky and Rob. Members are welcome to give feedback, however do not have a vote on decisions.

Can I bring my dog?

No, sorry! Although we love dogs, The landlord has rules regarding non leaseholders pets. Also out of respect to our members who may not appreciate them, dogs are not permitted in the studio.
